Colorado Town to Be Renamed Kush After a Popular Marijuana Strain
Moffat, a small town in Colorado may soon be renamed Kush which is the name of a popular marijuana strain. This depends on whether a proposal that was tabled before the Moffat board of trustees last Tuesday is accepted. The mayor of Moffat is in support of the proposal.
Moffat is a small town in Colorado with a population of about 120 people.
The proposal to rename the town was fronted by Mike Biggio, the founder of Area 420 which is a 420 acre cannabis business park that's located in the little town of Moffat. Area 420 is home to 70 solid marijuana businesses which contribute to both the economy and culture of the town.
“I'm trying to create something like what happened with Napa Valley or even Humboldt for our industry,” Biggio said.
Kush is an indica strain that traces its roots back to the Hindu Kush Mountains in the Afghanistan- Pakistan border. Proponents of the proposal believe that giving the town a “cannabis name” will represent its true identity and will also leverage the opportunity in the cannabis tourism wave.
