Curaleaf International has successfully acquired Can4Med, a Polish medical cannabis operator based in Wroclaw, marking a strategic entry into one of Europe's burgeoning medical marijuana markets. While the financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed, the acquisition positions Curaleaf International, a subsidiary of Curaleaf Holdings, as a key player in expanding patient access to medical cannabis products across Europe.

Can4Med specializes in the acquisition, registration, and distribution of medical cannabis, as highlighted in a Tuesday news release. The move aligns with Curaleaf International's dedication to addressing the growing demand for medical cannabis in Europe. The acquisition is seen as a significant advancement for Curaleaf International, according to Matt Darin, CEO of Curaleaf Holdings, who emphasized the rapid expansion of Poland's medical cannabis market.

“Poland’s medical cannabis market is expanding rapidly, and our partnership with Can4Med allows us to better serve patients while driving growth across Europe,” stated Matt Darin.

According to Curaleaf, over 3,000 kilograms (3 metric tons) of medical cannabis were distributed in Poland in 2023. The acquisition of Can4Med follows Curaleaf International's successful registration of its cannabis-based medicines as extracts in Poland earlier in 2023, achieved in collaboration with local partner CanPoland S.A. Curaleaf International has also secured registrations for its products in Malta and made history as the first company to register a THC-based cannabis extract active pharmaceutical ingredient in Italy.

This strategic move further solidifies Curaleaf International's position in the European cannabis market as it continues to navigate regulatory landscapes and expand its footprint. The subordinate voting shares of Curaleaf Holdings are traded as CURA on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
