Police Scotland has seized a cannabis farm with an estimated street value of £1.1 million in Aberdeenshire. The authorities were alerted to a potential cultivation site in the Auchterless area near Turriff last Tuesday.
Following a thorough search, officers uncovered what they described as a “large-scale operation.” A man, identified as 38-year-old Nerijus Jurgaitis from Aberdeenshire, was arrested and subsequently charged in connection with the discovery.
Jurgaitis faced accusations of producing and supplying a controlled drug when he appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court last week. During the court appearance, he made no plea to the two charges and was released on bail. The specific date for his next court appearance is yet to be confirmed.
The successful raid highlights law enforcement's commitment to tackling drug-related activities in the region, with the seized cannabis farm representing a significant blow to illicit operations. Police Scotland continues to investigate the matter to ensure the dismantling of any associated networks involved in the cultivation and distribution of illegal substances.
