Police in Belfast have seized dried cannabis worth £1m that they found hidden at the residence of  a 33 year old man, James John Murphy. The police were alerted after some of the packages were discovered in a vehicle at a police check at Belfast Harbor last Tuesday. The weed was found packed in vacuum-sealed plastic pouches and hidden in divan beds. The man has been charged for possession of a class B drug and given the volumes, an intention to distribute.

Mr Murphy was presented to the Magistrate’s court at Belfast on Wednesday morning and he acknowledged understanding the charges leveled against him. He however did not apply for bail. He is due to appear again in court on January 5th to get an update on a possible bail application.
