In the month of May, the FDA issued several warning letters to companies marketing CBD with false health and nutritional claims. Now, the FDA has begun to target delta- 8 products as well.

Unlike CBD, delta-8 is psychoactive and can alter one’s mental status when consumed. It occurs naturally in hemp but the quantities are too small to be extracted. The Delta-8 products in the market are made synthetically from hem-derived CBD. Consumers consider Delta- 8 as a means to get “legally high” since it can be produced from hemp which is legal. Delta-8 products are available in many creative forms such as shatter, infused beverages, vape carts, cookies, candies, chocolates, and even breakfast cereal.

The FDA has received several reports of adverse events related to the consumption of Delta -8 products.  Companies that have received the FDA warning letters include:

The named companies have been asked to respond to the FDA within 15 working days, explaining how they are going to prevent a recurrence. Failure to which the FDA will seize the products or make a court injunction.
