As gummies quickly become a leading form of edible cannabis in the American market, traditional manufacturing methods are evolving. A significant shift is occurring in core ingredients, with several premium brands moving from cannabis distillate to solventless live rosin.
To better understand this process and its impact on the final product, mycannabis.com spoke with Max Vansluys, President of Dialed In Gummies.
“In an industry that evolves as quickly as cannabis, it’s often described as moving in dog years, where one year can feel like seven, that balance of structure and adaptability has been invaluable.”
How did obtaining your BBA from Full Sail University give you a better understanding of brand and business management and successful operations at that?
My BBA from Full Sail University gave me a strong, practical foundation in branding, operations, and project management. These skills translate directly to running a CPG business like Dialed In. The program emphasized real-world problem-solving and creative execution, which prepared me to build systems, lead teams, and scale production without sacrificing quality. In an industry that evolves as quickly as cannabis, it’s often described as moving in dog years, where one year can feel like seven, that balance of structure and adaptability has been invaluable.
Prior to working with Dialed In Gummies, what industries did you work in, and what were the most valuable lessons you learned in successful business operations?
Before joining Dialed In, I worked across hospitality, events, and early-stage startups, which taught me how to run effectively in high-pressure, detail-oriented environments. Those roles reinforced the importance of building strong teams, maintaining consistent SOPs, and treating customer experience as the core metric. The biggest lesson I carried with me is that great brands are built on trust and trust comes from delivering high-quality products again and again.
What caught your professional interest about joining the cannabis industry? What were the first roles that you held in the industry, and how did those early roles better provide you with insight into working in such a young industry?
I was drawn to the cannabis industry because it offered the rare chance to help shape an industry from the ground up and help people through plant medicine. My first roles were hands-on, working directly with operations teams, cultivators, and production staff, which gave me a deep understanding of how much care goes into every step of the process. Those early experiences showed me that the brands that succeed are the ones that stay close to the plant, prioritize quality, and move quickly without cutting corners.
How did you first get connected with and become President of Dialed In Gummies?
I first got introduced to Dialed In Gummies while working as a budtender in Colorado, and I immediately loved the product. It was different from anything else on the shelf; solventless, small-batch, and crafted with intention. Not long after, I started working with the team, and the brand was absolutely taking off across Colorado. We were growing so fast that it felt like we were working almost around the clock just to keep up with demand and get enough product out the door.
Being on the ground in dispensaries gave me a real understanding of what consumers were responding to, and being part of Dialed In’s early growth showed me how powerful collaboration, quality, and authenticity could be in building a brand. As the company continued to scale and expand into new markets, I naturally stepped into broader leadership responsibilities, which eventually led me to my role as President.
Since Dialed In is in Colorado, Ohio, Missouri, Massachusetts, and Arizona, how do you have to alter operations based on the state the brand is operating in?
Each state has its own regulations, supply chain, and consumer preferences, so we adapt by partnering with licensed in-state manufacturers and top local cultivators. We always operate with the idea that collaboration is better than competition. Our core process stays the same, but we tailor sourcing and batch planning to the strains and growers that thrive in each market. This ensures that Dialed In Gummies in every state reflects the same quality and strain specificity people expect, while also showcasing local flower.
So what is the ‘Dialed In’ process, and how does that production process ensure quality gummies are consistently produced?
The Dialed In process starts with fresh-frozen cannabis washed into ice-water hash and pressed into clean, solventless live rosin. We then infuse that rosin into small-batch gummies using low-temperature methods that preserve flavor, terpenes, and cannabinoids. Every batch undergoes strict potency checks, terpene analysis, and third-party testing, which ensures consistency and transparency no matter where the gummies are produced.
From a production and quality preservation standpoint, why do you feel that utilizing solventless rosin is the best way to go over other production methods?
Solventless rosin captures the plant in its purest form. There are no chemicals, no additives, just heat, pressure, and high-quality cannabis. It preserves the full spectrum of cannabinoids and terpenes, which gives our gummies their richer flavor, cleaner effects, and true strain expression. While distillate can be made at scale, solventless rosin lets us honor the craft behind each strain and elevate edibles beyond the standard.
Given Dialed In’s specialty in gummies, what advantages do edible brands in general have over flower or concentrate brands?
Edibles offer consistency, approachability, and precise dosing in a way that flower and concentrates often can’t. They allow consumers to choose their experience with confidence, whether they want strain-specific effects, minor-cannabinoid blends, or discreet consumption. For many people, especially those newer to cannabis, edibles are the easiest way to understand what works for them and enjoy the plant without needing tools or deep product knowledge.
What are some exciting future plans for the Dialed In brand as cannabis becomes more popular?
As cannabis continues to reach a broader audience, Dialed In is focused on expanding thoughtfully, both in our existing markets and into new states in 2026. We’re investing heavily in solventless innovation, from new function-forward minor cannabinoid ratios to collaborative, small-batch releases with some of the most respected cultivators in each state we operate in.
Those partnerships are a huge part of what makes Dialed In special, and we have several exciting collaborations on deck that we can’t wait to share. As consumer education continues to grow, our goal is to keep leading the solventless category while making high-quality, rosin-based edibles more accessible to consumers nationwide.
