The Legality of Cannabis in Oklahoma
Recreational use of marijuana is illegal in the state of Oklahoma but legal for medical use as per the approved vote of State Question 788 on June 26, 2018.
The conditions that qualify for medical marijuana in the state of Oklahoma are:
- Chronic pain
- Anxiety
- Insomnia
- Severe nausea
- Epilepsy
- Terminal illness
- Spasticity
- Muscle spasms
- Glaucoma
- Inflammation
- Cachexia
- Cancer
- Neuropathic pain disorders
- HIV/AIDS
- Crohn’s disease
- Anorexia and bulimia
In this state, you are allowed to have up to 8 ounces of cannabis in your home, up to 1 ounce of concentrated cannabis, up to 72 ounces of edible cannabis, up to 6 mature plants, and not exceeding 3 ounces on your person at any given time. Licensed growers who comply with Title 63 are allowed to bring in products.
Will Oklahoma Legalize Recreational cannabis?
Many arguments have been made against the legalization of recreational marijuana and Oklahoma like a number of other states is caught in the throes of this controversy.
Though abuse of cannabis could have side effects as could abuse of about every other substance, legalizing it can lead to the regulation and harnessing of great gains some of which are:
- Increase revenues in collected tax and use the proceeds to run beneficial programs and boost the budget of the state.
- Proper regulation of the market including regulating jobs in the industry to ensure that they are offered decent pay will happen.
- Cutting down on the unregulated black market.
- With time, the chances of cannabis for adult use being legalized are high in Oklahoma and other states like it.
