Flourish Systems Irrigation Expands Across Origine Nature Facility

Flourish Systems, an agricultural technology company headquartered in Colorado, and Origine Nature, a licensed cannabis producer based in Québec, announced on September 21, 2026, the expanded deployment of Flourish Systems’ precision weight-based irrigation technology across Origine Nature’s indoor cultivation operation. The companies disclosed the expansion in a joint announcement published by Flourish Systems under a dateline of Denver and Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Québec.

Origine Nature is an award-winning Canadian licensed cannabis producer recognized for combining craft cultivation, genetics selection, applied research and data-driven production. The company was named Canada’s Top Grower in 2022 and 2023 and has earned recognition at the Canadian Cannabis Championship, including a 2026 award for Golden Gauth. Its cultivar portfolio includes Sage N Sour, Medellin and Golden Gauth.

The initiative is led at Origine Nature by Alexandre Gauthier, Vice-President of Research and Development. Gauthier oversees cultivation research, genetics, product innovation and the integration of new technologies. According to the announcement, his approach combines the experience of skilled growers with ongoing plant-level data to improve quality, consistency and production performance.

“Exceptional cannabis requires more than a successful room or a single strong result,” Gauthier said. “Our objective is to understand why a crop performs, standardize the conditions that produced that result and identify deviations early enough to take meaningful action.”

Continuous Weight-Based Monitoring

Flourish Systems’ platform replaces point-in-time substrate measurements with continuous weight-based monitoring. By tracking changes in substrate mass, the platform gives cultivators greater visibility into plant water use, irrigation uptake, runoff, dryback and biomass-gain trends.

The system pairs high-precision scales installed under each plant with a cloud-based software platform. According to Flourish Systems’ product documentation, a Scale Unit, a high-precision weight sensor positioned under each plant, continuously measures substrate weight to capture dry-back, irrigation uptake and runoff. A Flourish Unit, built inside an IP66+ waterproof enclosure designed for grow room conditions, connects the scales through Ethernet and puts each plant online. Through the Flourish dashboard, cultivators can view live weight curves for every plant, configure fertigation triggers based on real-time substrate mass change, set thresholds per plant, automate separate day and night watering strategies and receive real-time alerts. The company states that measuring total plant weight continuously, rather than sampling moisture at a single point inside the pot, removes placement bias and calibration drift from irrigation decisions. Flourish Systems, headquartered in Glendale, Colorado, lists Origine Nature among the licensed cultivators using its systems.

During one comparative test, an Origine Nature room using Flourish Systems recorded a 30% higher final dry weight of trimmed flower than the comparison room, according to the announcement. The announcement states the result was observed under specific test conditions and should not be interpreted as a validated or consistently repeatable yield increase. Origine Nature is continuing its testing to determine which variables contributed to the result and whether the performance can be reproduced.

Yield Forecasting and Reference-Run Development

A central objective of the collaboration is the continued development of tools that could estimate final crop yield three to four weeks before harvest based on biomass-gain trends and historical crop data. According to the announcement, earlier forecasting could provide cultivation, production, sales and inventory teams with more time to prepare for potential variations in supply.

The teams are also working toward reference-run functionality that would allow Origine Nature to define expected performance ranges from successful historical crops. Current runs could then be compared against those references to identify developing out-of-specification conditions, trigger investigations and notify the appropriate departments before harvest.

The announcement states the approach is intended to help Origine Nature move from reacting to harvest outcomes toward proactively managing crop performance by identifying deviations earlier, supporting data-driven decisions and restoring consistency before issues affect final results.
