Patients need a prescription to access cannabis from pharmacies. While the cultivation of cannabis is not allowed, pharmaceutical ingredients from cannabis can be imported into Poland.

Is Hemp Legal in Poland?

Yes, hemp is legal in Poland but must not exceed 0.3%  THC (previously it was 0.2%). Hemp, also called fibrous hemp, can be cultivated for industrial or medicinal use. Industrial uses of hemp in Poland include the following:

  • Pulp and paper
  • Land rehabilitation and remediation
  • Fertilizers
  • Building materials

Is CBD Legal in Poland?

Hemp-derived CBD containing less than 0.3% THC is legal in Poland. It is easy to access CBD in Poland, especially from online vendors. Like the rest of Europe, CBD is considered as a novel food and should not be marketed as medicine or as a food supplement.

Can You Grow Weed in Poland?

It is legal to grow weed (hemp) at home in Poland. However, the area of cultivation should not exceed one hectare per year. To cultivate hemp you will need a permit from the National Agriculture Support Center. Growing cannabis (more than 0.3% THC) at home is not allowed.

Is Recreational Cannabis Legal in Poland?

Currently, the recreational use of cannabis is illegal in Poland. However, a 2020 poll found that 8% of Poles below 34 years had used cannabis recreationally at least once over the past year. This shows that the illicit market is rife and cannabis is a widely used recreational drug in Poland.
