“Research, cultivation, and retail positions are currently hard to find and hard to fill without a centralized point for the employers and employees to come together and we are filling this important role.”
Wrick Papa, sales executive at EUCannajobs

The global cannabis industry has been growing steadily in the last decade as increasingly more countries have moved to legalize cannabis for medical and/or personal use. Countries such as Canada, Uruguay, and some US states have managed to create thriving recreational markets that have provided revenue streams as well as employment opportunities along cannabis verticals. With Germany and Czechia making plans to legalize recreational cannabis, the industry in Europe has inklings of bursting at the seams.

MyCannabis had the opportunity to interview Wrick Papa, a sales executive at the leading job marketplace for the cannabis industry in Europe, EU Cannajobs. In this interview, Wrick shares insights on the cannabis opportunities in Europe and what to expect in 2023.

My Cannabis: Briefly introduce EUCannaJobs

Wrick: EUCannaJobs is the go-to place for both employers and job-seekers who are involved in the legal cannabis, CBD, and hemp industry in Europe. The industry will continue to grow quickly as more countries join the medical cannabis movement and as CBD continues to prove its worth in the medical community. Research, cultivation, and retail positions are currently hard to find and hard to fill without a centralized point for the employers and employees to come together and we are filling this important role. We also strive to provide accurate, up-to-date information for employers and employees, especially as many companies and people are new to this industry.

My Cannabis: What has been the highlight of EUCannaJobs in 2022?

Wrick: In 2022, we worked on partnering with more companies for us to be able to provide more job opportunities. We also worked on partnering with media companies for our audiences to stay in the know about the latest jobs, news, and events in the European cannabis industry.

My Cannabis: Any predictions for the cannabis industry in 2023?

Wrick: With all the legalization happening in Europe, it will be instrumental in creating more jobs to benefit the industry, the economy, and the individuals as well. With adult-use legalization happening in Germany and Czechia alone, it will create tens of thousands of jobs. We look forward to more progress and we really see that the coming years are going to be exciting for the industry.

My Cannabis: What’s next for EUCannaJobs?

Wrick: We plan to keep expanding the community of companies that will provide job opportunities for people all around Europe, we are planning to attend job fairs and also organize our own together with our partners to let more people know that the jobs in the industry are just like any other industry. Attending conferences is also a priority in 2023 because it is a great opportunity to connect with people who have first-hand experience with legal cannabis which makes them passionate about the industry. On top of everything, we are planning to extend our services and offer certification courses to candidates along with adding new features to our platform for companies to have more options with their search for candidates.
