Breakthrough CBD Delivery Method Improves Epilepsy, MS Therapies

Cannabis derived compounds are showing their versatility once again, as researchers at the University of South Australia (UniSA) have developed a cannabidiol (CBD) formulation that could drastically improve treatment outcomes for individuals living with the following debilitating conditions:

  • Reduced CBD’s lipophilicity (log Po/w dropped from 7.54 to 0.13)
  • Enhanced permeability and intestinal uptake
  • Increased oral release rates from 0% (pure CBD) to 67.1% at 3 hours
  • Maintained structural integrity and efficacy for up to 12 months

Simply put, early results indicate that improved bioavailability achieved by this delivery system holds immense promise, particularly for chronic neurological disorders where consistent, effective dosing is critical.  Combined with advancements being seen with nanotechnologies, cannabis appears poised to play an increasing role in modern medicine.

A New Frontier for MS and Epilepsy Treatment
