Equipment

  • Medium Saucepan (non-reactive)
  • wooden spoon or silicone spatula
  • measuring cups & spoons
  • immersion blender optional, for smoother texture
  • airtight glass jar must hold at leasadt 500mL
  • small funnel optional, for bottling

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup tomato paste
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • cup water
  • ¼ cup bourbon
  • 2 tbsp molasses
  • 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce If vegetarian, be mindful that some sauces contain anchovies.
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ cup THC-infused maple syrup Potency Note: Using our Infused Maple Syrup, this will result in a total of ~50mg THC or ~6mg per serving (2tbsp)

Instructions

  • Build the Base
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine ¾ cup tomato paste, ½ cup apple cider vinegar, ⅓ cup water, and ¼ cup bourbon. Stir to create a smooth base.
  • Add the Flavour
Mix in 2 tbsp molasses, 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce, 1 tbsp yellow mustard, 1 ½ tsp garlic powder, 1 ½ tsp onion powder, 1 tsp smoked paprika, ½ tsp kosher salt, and ½ tsp ground black pepper. Stir well.
  • Simmer Gently
Bring to a gentle simmer. Reduce heat to low and let simmer uncovered for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally. This allows the alcohol to evaporate and the sauce to thicken.
  • Finish the Sauce
Remove the saucepan from heat. Let cool for 5 minutes, then stir in 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice and ¼ cup THC-infused maple syrup. This protects the THC from degrading due to high heat.
  • Smooth it Out (Optional)
Use an immersion blender to create a velvety texture, especially if using it for dipping or basting delicate cuts.
  • Bottle and Store
Transfer to airtight jars or bottles using a funnel. Let cool completely before sealing. Store in the refrigerator.
Storage: Keeps in the fridge for up to 3 weeks. Shake or stir before use.

Notes

This Maple Bourbon THC BBQ Sauce is proof that edibles can be both functional and fabulous.
With its rich, smoky depth, gentle sweetness, and warming bourbon kick, it elevates whatever it touches — and the added THC from our premium maple syrup turns it into a sauce that feels as good as it tastes.
Whether used at a backyard BBQ or saved for indulgent rainy day ribs, this recipe will quickly earn its place in your grilling hall of fame.
Infusion Substitution Tip
If you do not already have our THC-infused maple syrup, you can substitute with:
  • ¼ cup (60 mL) regular maple syrup (for flavour and sweetness)
  • Your preferred cannabis tincture added after cooking
Be sure to calculate the dose accurately to match the intended 50 mg THC per 500 mL yield (about 3 mg per tablespoon).
Always stir thoroughly to ensure even distribution and allow the sauce to cool slightly (below 50°C / 120°F) before adding any tincture to preserve cannabinoid potency.
